Start with the Old Town
For a first visit, make the historic centre the anchor of your day. Start around Alameda Park and head into the Old Town for Plaza de los Naranjos, whitewashed streets and the area around La Encarnación. These places are close enough to explore on foot without spending the day in a vehicle.
A local walk early in your stay helps you get your bearings. Choose a departure that fits your travel plans rather than assuming a daily starting time: our English group walking tour runs on the dates and times shown in the booking system.
Build your day around one confirmed plan
Book the walking tour first, then leave room around it for the rest of Marbella. Allow approximately two hours for the experience and time to arrive at the meeting point. If your departure is later in the day, simply start with the seafront and return to the Old Town at your confirmed time.
| Part of your day | A simple plan |
|---|---|
| First stop | Alameda Park and an introduction to the Old Town |
| Your booked departure | The guided walk; follow the confirmed starting time |
| After the walk | Lunch or a café in the centre, with time to pause |
| Later | Avenida del Mar and a relaxed walk along the seafront |
| Before leaving | Return to your car, bus or transfer with a time buffer |
Leave time for lunch
Do not schedule lunch immediately after the expected end of your walk if you have a fixed reservation. Give yourself a little flexibility to finish, ask your guide a question and walk to the restaurant.
The olive oil stop on our tour is a small tasting, not a meal. You will still want to make your own lunch plans. Ask your guide for suggestions that fit what you want to eat and the time you have available.
Add the seafront, without rushing
Avenida del Mar connects the area below Alameda Park with Marbella’s central seafront. From there, take a walk along the promenade or sit by the sea. You can enjoy both the historic centre and the coast while keeping your plan focused on central Marbella.
Puerto Banús is a separate outing. If it is a priority, allow additional travel time and shorten another part of your day. It is better to enjoy two places properly than to spend the afternoon catching up with an overfull schedule.
Arriving from Puerto Banús or another resort
Check live directions from your accommodation to Alameda Park. Traffic, bus services and parking can change, so allow a buffer and avoid relying on a fixed journey estimate. Our tour begins at the fountain in central Marbella; it does not include hotel pickup.
Keep your booking confirmation accessible on your phone and arrive 10 minutes before the tour. The meeting-point photograph and map link will help you recognise the right fountain.
Visiting during a cruise stop?
If your ship docks in Málaga, this is not a tour at the port and transport to Marbella is not included. Only book once you have checked the time needed to reach Marbella and return before your ship’s all-aboard deadline.
Allow for traffic and an adequate return buffer. A shared walking-tour departure cannot be treated as a guaranteed shore excursion. If the timing does not fit, ask Tour Marbella Experiences about a private day with transport and a schedule built around your arrival.
If you only have half a day
Keep the Old Town and one relaxed stop afterwards. Skip the extra transfer to Puerto Banús, and choose either lunch or a short seafront walk. A focused visit gives you more time to enjoy Marbella and less time watching the clock.
For the sights themselves, read our Marbella Old Town guide, then check the tour calendar for a departure that fits.
